How to make a Low Cost LCD TV with DTH

I have been (re-)using a LCD monitor to make (hack) a home-made TV set.

Ingredients:

1. LCD monitor - 15" or 17" (to your liking)
2. Set of PC speaker - creative 2.1 or similar
3. External TV tuner box - choose a good quality as this will decide the overall sound and picture quality
4. DTH box - TataSKY, Videocon or any body
5. Power strip (also called extensions) with 4 power outputs. Preferable with individual switches.
5. (Optional) Audio cable for TV tuner to PC speakers.

The most interesting part is total cost of ownership - monitor (7,000) + speaker (1000) + tv tuner (500) + DTH (1500) = 9,999/- one of the ingredients must have reduced one rupee somewhere :))

That's it !!! A LCD TV with all modern technology under 10,000 rupees !!!

Can't believe it can work: The catch is that once you start using DTH (TataSKY), your TV is doing nothing. TV becomes really dumb and doesn't even need channel flip feature.
Channel selection and all TV signal processing is happening inside your DTH box. So why to pay the TV manufacturer high cost of LCD TV :)
Detailed steps of construction (my setup as reference):
1. 15" LCD Samsung monitor has VGA date cable, connect it to TV tuner box.
2. Connect PC speakers to external TV tuner box
3. Connect DTH output to external TV tuner box
4. Connect all four power supply cables - Monitor, PC speakers, TV tuner box and DTH to power strip.
This way you can choose to switch off all the devices together or individually.

Please try and give feedback.
Keep hacking :-))
